A great deal of scrap metal is a by-product of industrial demolition. Nothing's wasted. It all goes to the Scrapyard...

Shots of trucks coming on site: 010502

Close up shots of Lorenzo at work, directing his crew: 010825 + 010933
Insert 2 cranes: 011418

This morning a team of guys are putting themselves on the line. They're at work at this old petrochemical complex in a partnership with Mr Black's Scrapyard.

Lorenzo Rappatoni is the man in charge of the demolition project. He comes from a family of builders. But -- while they spent their lives putting things up, he takes them down. And don't kid yourself, he's got the tools to do it.

Lorenzo in front of towers and lifts.
Super: Lorenzo Rappatoni, Delsan Industrial Demolition

Mission: Demolition king or Demolish safely (???)

Preparation cable: 01122214 + 0111600 + 011620

(01,20,34) So what we have this morning, I've got two cranes here, one for the basket for the man to go up, the other one is to hold the cable to bring the cable up, is a 35 ton crane, the other one is a 60 ton crane.

Inserts on machines installing cables in fish eye lens: 011620

This demolition project is reaching a climax.

Travailleurs contre-jour: 011800

Tour en low angle: 011240

Puis Interview Lorenzo on cam

(01,20,01) We have been here for the past five months, we are moving all the items over here, we removing and we track about five thousand tons of steel, the last two items of the all project is these two towers that you see behind me here.

Inserts wind shots: 012505 + 012654 + 012810

The plan is to bring down the tallest of the two towers. Strict safety procedures are in effect here. The biggest problem is the wind. If it exceeds 30 kilometers an hour, the danger of an accident will be too great.

Hand held shot toward Lorenzo and CSST guy:
012350

The Government Safety Inspector arrives on site...

Subtitles:

L: So what's the decision this morning?

CSST: We're cancelling the whole thing.

L: Because of the wind speed?

CSST: The wind is way too strong.

(01,24,06)

Lorenzo : Alors la décision à matin c'est?

CSST : Ben là on cancelle tout.

Lorenzo : Á cause de la vélocité?

CSST : Á cause le vent est beaucoup trop fort.

Mix à pull back camera in slomo: 012450

(01,24,55)
Lorenzo in v/o: Ok... So everything is shut down... Stop everything...

BS empty site and towers with clouds in pixilation :
013130 + 013245 Fade out

They're losing time they can't afford. So the towers will stand for now. But when the weather changes, Lorenzo's team will be ready. And for now, Herbert Black's out of luck on this harvest!

Fade in. Opens on 2 towers and snow: 060114
Super: Five days later

Change of music.

Men at work with torch. Lorenzo keeps an eye on the job:
060030 + 060143 + 060245...

We are back on site. Safety has given the OK, and all systems are go.

(second tower prep to be intercut into first tower prep)

Overlap then interview with Lorenzo...

(06:29:12)Big morning, it's 6 O'clock in the morning, we've been waiting 5 days, because we had problems with the weather conditions. The wind is perfect, we talked with the torch man... (...) this morning it's going down.

Engineers come into play: 060410

They measure the tower and mark the base.

(inserts in second tower prep)

It takes experts to tackle this kind of job. A 70 meter tower falling is no joke. That's why the wind matters.

Lorenzo on cam then...

Prep and cutting: 060602 + 061240 + 061250

Insert with torch men (inserts in close up better in second tower prep)

(06,30,20) At bottom it's the same concept as a tree falling. We do our cuts at the bottom, the tension of the cable will give the moment for the tower to move he's gonna be pulling it very slightly and she's gonna be going at the same direction all by herself.

More prep at the base of the tower...

The engineers perform calculations, gauging weight and height.

Lorenzo in interview

(06:29:38) The Liebherr's ready with the cable tight on the, on the towers.

Teaser to break

Cable and excavator in stand by: close, medium and large...

Count down to crash: 061330

The wind is holding for now. The torches are almost through. Lorenzo wants this tower down as safely as possible. The crucial countdown begins...

Crew gets out of the way.: 061355

Everyone clears out... a little prayer never hurts... If this was a movie, Lorenzo would be the director...

Dream sequence: Lorenzo is now a film director! with a mega-phone! and a black cap! He shouts... (063057)

Music shift to sustain humm... "AAAAAAAnnnnd... Action!" Music stops.

Back to reality: The tower is slowly coming down : 061415 Back up with close up of second tower falling down (but edit in to make believe it's the big one): 062755

sfx only: desert wind followed by an extraterrestrial bang play backed at half speed.

Reaction shots Lorenzo and crew.

Hi fives: 061415

Lorenzo in v/o over cheers

Right on the money. Even for experienced workers, it's a thrill.

(06:15:50) Beautiful, beautiful job.

The fallen tower + some more cheers: 061645

Slight overlap then Lorenzo on cam

(06:22:42) It's excitement you know big thing, big fall, big machines, cut, danger. They love it, they love it.

Short insert on fallen tower... 061915

The team deserves a little celebration. But there's work to do clearing away this fallen monster before they can knock off.

Slight overlap then Lorenzo on cam

(06:23:27) The next step we're shearing the hell out of it and out!

On a final still shot of the fallen tower: 061915

While the team works, let's find out from Dr. Nat, our physics expert, why things topple.
