TV and Comics Heroines

Couple of pics today, after meeting with my friend R. Gagnon at the Cock N' Bull bar. Above, he's inked my drawing of a couple of the heroines of the Firefly TV series, which became the movie, Serenity. I like River, the crazy girl (L) because when she shows up in the show, stuff happens. That's supposed to be Kaylee, in her party frock, in front. I added colours, later, with my Prismacolour pencils. (I'm a bit of a Luddite, but that just means I'm bad at computer colouring)
Below is Gagnon's drawing of Winnie the Witch, from the old Charlton Horror Comics.

As a dedicated Firefly fan all I can say is that your art bears absolutely no resemblence to either the characters you name nor the ship. Kaylee looks like someone off Little House on the Prairie and River looks like any female character you draw in your depressing world of facial distortions. What's worse is that you made the Firely look like a cheap Star Trek vessel. Maybe you should buy the DVD set or the opening of the new BSG series where Firefly was last seen in a frame flying above Caprica on the day of the Cylon attack on the colonies while Laura Roslin was in her doctor's office!

Hey, lighten up! We're just having fun drawing off the tops of our heads over a pitcher of beer.
Research materials aren't the best there. (but I admit I did glance at a photo of the Firefly space ship, but from another angle. This is an impression interpreted by Rick, but I think the real thing does look a bit like a squished squirrel!)
We're just drawing these for kicks, not fan art for "Starlog Magazine."
All the same, your comment was much more fun to read than a regular "this sucks," or even "love your art!"
