This Season's Heater Cats

I lit the pilot on the ancient Coleman (1930s 40s?) heater that warms this apartment. That means I've got heater cats again, a sure sign of approaching winter. Tried to put a little mat on top, to stop me having to vacuum cat hair out of the appliance when I wanted to turn it up, but they pushed it off.
