Who? What?

Without a reference, but I was thinking of George Herriman, the creator of Krazy Kat. In real life, he looked very different than my imagining of him, and never was seen without his hat. For some reason, Ryan Larkin is in the picture, who used to come into the bookstore where I once worked.

Nothing to do with Christmas

Oh well. The two in front are my drawings, as inked by Rick Gagnon. Have not had coffee or a beer with him for a while. He's prickly, but worth knowing. He gave a nice polish to these people, without destroying the feeling of the original drawings. It's a pleasant give and take, this kind of collaboration, and I enjoy inking his drawings, too. I wouldn't have made the people naked, however!

Yellow Cat Friday

Blogging from a "Java U" cafe this time, in Westmount. It just seems like the thing to do. I'm a little behind here, because my image editing software is on my other, slower computer. So I scanned a bunch of things in when I had the chance, and am blogging them as the mood takes me. It's been a little tough, lately, and I need cheering up. Have a bit of time now, but I want to fill it up with useful stuff, because I feel a little at sixes and sevens when I'm not doing anything. So, I'm trying to give myself some project, rather than just sitting around watching DVDs. Who knows what that will be?

More truckers, looking right

I don't know why I find it easier to draw people looking to the right. I think it's something to do with handedness. Anyhow, I should try drawing more people looking the other way, but I don't remember to, unless it's a couple.
The trucker below was inked by the estimable Richard Gagnon. We used to collaborate. I hope we do again, sometime.

Snow Day

Between computers now, and uploading pictures is more tricky. I managed it, though. This , though dated yesterday, was actually drawn today, while I was eating lunch and having a beer at the Biftek St. Laurent. The computer works there, a tribute to the Ile sans fil (wireless island) plan in various parts of Montreal. Pretty cool.

Underwater

This is a painting I did a while ago. I like the blues. Have to start painting again, when I have time. Today is the first free day I've had for a long while. Working on these TV projects. Tomorrow, I start something interesting, which is writing narration for something I've written the script to. I'll actually get to watch the rough cut of the program (we call it the off-line), and record a "temp track" of the narration myself, which will be funny. I've always wanted to narrate.
Wow, the sun has finally risen (I'm up early this morning,) and it's like an orange torch in the sky, which fades to blue as intense as any ink. (I'm looking through spots as I type this).

Dawg

Gosh, I've been doing so little here. I may as well put this up. An e-mail friend wanted a sad "dawg" to go on a CD case for a mix CD to cheer up a sick friend. So here we go. Kind of a nice break from all that writing, and deadlines that are due.
Happy birthday to me, today! It's been a thrilling, and very fortunate year or two. First working on the Lord of the Rings Symphony DVD, then opening an exhibition in Bangkok, and now all this TV work. I've turned in my "loser' card for now.

La Visitation

I love looking at these simple watercolour drawings. This one was actually made on-site, but a few months ago, sorry. Been busy, better work, rather than blog.
Still, I learn from doing the big complicated drawings that don't always work out. I think it's all right to work in different styles. I still would like to publish a book showing big mistakes and bad drawings by otherwise good artists, because young and developing artists could learn from that. But that's in the future, unless someone's already done it....

Tiddley Pom

No more of sitting in parks this season. I'm actually very proud of this post, because it's being typed in the Marquette Street Second Cup. Though, my battery's running out, and I'm not near an outlet. Those are the breaks. Still, since I also got my wireless phone today, I could be totally homeless, and still working. Scary thought.
